Our food grade hammer mill, the Rigimill, is used for sanitary grinding. Ideal for breaking down lumps in whey powder, lactose powder, milk powder, and cheese powder. The Rigimill grinds lumps into a fine powder, ensuring your product has a uniform consistency and moves smoothly through the rest of your manufacturing process and production line.
Many dairy manufacturers run into problems with moisture getting into whey or lactose powder and causing clumping. Lumps can form in dairy products like frozen shredded cheese and cheese powder during transport and storage. Temperature and moisture fluctuations can cause your dairy products to clump up. Sometimes, these products just get lumpy, forming large agglomerations of material. With changes in humidity and temperature, you can also run into the problem of your dairy powders sticking to the walls of your storage silo. These clumps can cause a headache further down the production line, creating waste in your dairy manufacturing process.
Dairy products can sometimes clump up into balls as large as 8” in diameter. These clumps of product can get stuck during conveying, they don’t mix properly, and can damage equipment further down the process. Clumping in dairy production creates more work, requiring special attention during processing. Regardless of who will be using your product, you need it to be a uniform texture and consistency to streamline dairy production.
Your customer expects product consistency. When you’re manufacturing shredded cheese, your customer will be unhappy if you deliver cheese that is stuck together in large clumps. If your product is a powder, like whey protein or lactose powder, customers don’t want it to be lumped together in large balls that can sometimes be as hard as cement. Sometimes, you’re the one using the product and clumps will create problems for your downstream manufacturing processes.
Our Rigimill® is used to grind cheese, whey, lactose, whey protein concentrate, skim milk powder and other dairy powders. Our Dual Rotor Crushers are used to break up lumps in dairy powders and other cheese products. We have supplied Sani-Trac® Belt Conveyors for both cheese and powder applications. Customers have come to depend on our easy to clean dairy processing equipment that provide years of reliable performance.
Not only can we help you with food grade declumping, we have a complete line of sanitary dairy equipment. From evenly coating your product with dairy powder and gently mixing it in to breaking up whey protein that’s even too tough for a sledgehammer. We’ve been designing dairy processing equipment for over 30 years. Our equipment is built to the highest sanitary standards, including BIISC, GMA, and USDA dairy.
Your dairy processing equipment depends on your product, your process, and your desired outcome. Our most effective equipment to streamline dairy production is the Rigimill sanitary hammer mill, our sanitary crushers, sanitary belt conveyors and sanitary tumbling drums for food grade blending. Often, our customers will end up with a complete system of dairy processing equipment to streamline multiple parts of the dairy manufacturing process. The best place to start is to talk to one of our sanitary manufacturing experts.
We start by having a phone conversation to discuss the material you’re working with and what kind of sanitary declumping, sanitary grinding, or sanitary blending equipment will be most effective. We’ll ask questions like your target lump size and what will happen with the product after it is crushed, blended, or declumped.
Test your dairy product in our lab
After the initial phone consultation, you can send us your product for testing in our test lab. When you send your product to our test lab, we’ll test it on our dairy processing equipment with your actual product to ensure it works perfectly with your specific material. You’ll get a custom recommendation for your exact processing needs.
